Wuxi LEYOUNG Laser Completes Welding Robot Commissioning in Hanoi, Vietnam

Hanoi, Vietnam — Engineers from Wuxi LEYOUNG Laser Technology Co., Ltd. recently completed the full installation, commissioning, programming, process optimization, and operator training of a welding robot system for a steel structure manufacturer in Hanoi.

The system has now been successfully put into stable operation for the mass production of steel structural components, supporting the customer’s transition toward automated manufacturing.

    Project Background

The customer is engaged in the production of heavy-duty steel structural components for industrial machinery. Prior to automation, the production process relied heavily on manual welding, resulting in challenges such as inconsistent weld quality, limited production capacity, shortage of skilled welders, and increasing labor costs.

To address these issues, Wuxi LEYOUNG Laser engineers carried out on-site adjustments and optimization, including robot trajectory calibration, arc tracking parameter tuning, and multi-layer multi-pass welding process refinement, ensuring stable performance for thick plate and complex structural welding applications.

The engineering team also provided on-site operator training covering equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, and offline programming, enabling independent operation and maintenance by the customer’s technical staff.

Key Benefits of the Welding Robot System

    Stable welding quality
The system enables precise control of welding current, voltage, and travel speed. Combined with seam tracking technology, it compensates for workpiece deviations, improving weld consistency and reducing defects such as porosity and deformation.

    Improved production efficiency
With continuous 24-hour operation capability and multi-station configurations, production efficiency is increased by approximately 2–3 times compared to manual welding, significantly reducing delivery cycles.

    Reduced production cost
Automation reduces reliance on skilled welding labor. A single operator can manage multiple systems, helping reduce labor costs and improve long-term production efficiency.

    Flexible application capability
Offline programming allows fast adaptation to different workpieces, including steel beams, brackets, machine bases, and structural frames, supporting mixed production requirements.

    Improved working environment
Automated welding reduces operator exposure to high temperature, arc radiation, and welding fumes, improving workplace safety and supporting the development of smart factory environments.

    Conclusion

This project marks another step in Wuxi LEYOUNG Laser Technology Co., Ltd.’s expansion into Southeast Asia’s steel structure automation market.

The company continues to provide integrated welding robot solutions, overseas technical support, and full lifecycle after-sales service to support global manufacturers in advancing intelligent and automated production.
